Hiya: Spam Blocker & Caller ID App Reviews

Hija

This app is goooood!

Just like Mr. Number; marginally useful.

This app does NOT screen calls. It will identify a number as spam/scam/fraud after the fact. Why it has a Protect option, I have no idea, because it does nothing. If the app makers actually allowed the app to screen a call, I would PAY for it.

Requires Registration

This app requires registration, even if you just want to look up numbers. You also cannot use the app at all if you do not give it access to your contacts. Even if you just want to look up numbers. Boo.

Needs better integration with phone.

Needs to warn of spam call even when not running in background. Also need to be able to report spam call to hiya from within phone app like you can with truecaller. Having to cut and paste number is crazy clumsy. Both of these are dealbreakers.

Just ok

Its nice to identify a SPAM number. The only problem is that if you blacklist the number on the app, it will still ring through the next time they call and show it as blacklisted. If you want to block the number, you have to do it on your phone manually prior to blacklisting it. If you blacklist it first, it will forever ring on your phone every time they call.

LOVE THIS APP

Hiya is the best app ever. Its the best thing since sliced bread. I no longer read Im receiving spam and marketing calls on my cell phone and I am so ecstatic. This is an app I would recommend to anyone. And you will not be disappointed

So surprisingly helpful!

I love this app. My cell phone somehow got out to the telemarketers so I am disrupted constantly but with this app any one spammer only calls me once and then I get to blacklist them. Also get to read about other peoples experience to better inform me about the calls. Easy, convenient, and so very helpful. Thanks a ton.

Better than Truecaller

I was a user of TrueCaller for about a year before trying this app. In the last three months I have noticed that this app does a better job of identifying spam then TrueCaller. Hiya seems to identify spam better. Know if iOS would only let it tell me before answering if it is spam.

Who called?

Over 5 months this app caught less than 5% of spam calls because spammers rarely use a number long enough to get on Hiyas blacklist. It was a good idea that spammers have evolved to avoid. This app also interfereswith other apps. I caught a glimpse of the red suspected SPAM screen, but I have no way of checking if the number was truly SPAM. There is a long list of numbers under the info button. Is the caller the first, last or anywhere on the list? Recent calls should still list the number with the word blocked by Hiya. I tried to contact the developer through the app support button in the AppStore. The website just hangs. I tried manually and theres no way to contact them or even a list of FAQs. Id rather just go by the rule, if the number isnt in contacts and they dont leave voicemail its spam. I can check for that using one of several websites. I prefer to manually block the number. I will be deleting Hiya unless I can get an answer as to the number that called.

not too sure if its even doing anything

So tell me why just got a phone call from Blacklisted by Hiya? You would think that wouldnt be possible. I have never got the "Suspected Spam " message on an incoming call even though I search number in app and the number has 20+ spam reports.

Spam magnet

For six years on my iPhone I receive an average of four spam calls a year. I did want an app that would let me know who was calling. Since using Hiya and enabling full call protection I receive an average of 10 spam calls a day. Half of those calls ring through to my phone. When I check them against the hiya the app, it identifies them as known spam callers but doesnt block them? I am wondering if hiya isnt working both sides of the fence and selling gathered information through their app to Telemarketers. I have messaged hiya but they refuse to return my emails.

deleted app, still answering my phone

in the 3 days ive had this, ive missed at least 4 calls that were flagged by hiya. i deleted it and the deleted app is still flagging calls.

This app needs work

Its not blocking any calls. Its letting them through and I have to add them to a blacklist. What do I need the app for?

What does this app do?

I have had this app installed for a couple weeks and havent noticed any calls being blocked. The look up number feature is nice but most times Hiya says the number has no complaints but I KNOW its spam on other users comments say the same. Also, its too hard to add multiple phone numbers to Hiya blacklist. I have a contact on my IPhone called "BS Callers". I want to import the entire contact but I cant. I have to import 1 by 1. Still looking for a good app for spam phone call blocking.

A successful app

I put this app in about two weeks ago and all the on wanted calls stopped coming in until today. I got a call from a company that told me they could help me out with my student loan. I am 72 and have no student loans nor did I ever. I reported The coal to Hiya and hopefully that company will be stopped from bothering other people as well as me. We all have to put a stop to these frustrating wastes of our time and horrible scams that take advantage of people. Thank you Hiya for doing your part.

Average

This works no better than blocking calls yourself. It only blocks numbers you tell it too even if number has 40 reports of spam

Garbage

Absolutely worthless app. Blocked numbers keep calling anyway

Hiya

Junk want app off want work

What Happened????

When I used this app on my Galaxy S5 it worked like a charm. Now that I have switched to an iPhone6, it doesnt work as a caller id. I can still do searches, but other than that it doesnt tell me who is calling. Actually, it doesnt tell me anything. As for a widget, I havent found a widget like it states in the FAQs under settings. This app was a 5, now Im not sure if its even worth keeping.

Great app!

I use this app on multiple cell phones to stop time wasting calls. I love it and hope it continues to be a spot on app.
